Carla Haelermans studied International Economic Studies at Maastricht University. In 2007 she completed her master and started her PhD research on efficiency and productivity of Dutch secondary schools at IPSE Studies, Delft University of Technology. From September 2010 on, she finished her PhD-studies at the Top Institute for evidence-based Education Research (TIER), Maastricht University. In Spring 2012, she was a visiting researcher and lecturer at the Faculty of Management Engineering, Polytechnic Institute of Milano. In 2012 she obtained her PhD in Economics from Maastricht University entitled “On the productivity and efficiency of education – The role of innovations in Dutch secondary education”. In 2013, she was a visiting researcher at the Swedish Institute of Social Research (SOFI) at Stockholm University in Sweden. Currently, she is an assistant professor at the Top Institute for evidence-based Education Research in Maastricht. She teaches mainly statistics classes and is responsible for coordinating the premaster program, which is a preparation program for the MEBIT-master. Her research currently mainly focuses at experiments on ICT in education.
