Participate in an intensive, hands-on five day course on Structural Models for Policy Evaluation and Discrete Choice Approaches. The course is primarily intended for doctoral students, postdocs and assistant professors. We introduce you in the literature, the methodology and show how to estimate the models in Stata, after which you are invited to practice with real life datasets and discuss results and “tips and tricks” with the presenting academics.
Datasets will be provided for use in the lab sessions, but alternatively participants can bring their own datasets and elaborate the presented techniques in this setting.
A working knowledge of Stata and basic econometrics is assumed. For Part 1, the course aims to build on pre-existing knowledge of the principles of econometric policy evaluation techniques, as it elaborates on applications in the field of education. For Part 2, the course presents applications of discrete choice models in the field of education and elaborates on the use of vignette studies in economic analyses.
